I'm so sad this season is over! I had such a great time, I hope you did too. Every week was better than the one before.
Our last week was definitely the best though. (especially because I got to play) Our strongest team going into playoffs was James F and Blake B, both players dominated court 4 all season, and they amassed ELOs of 1663 and 1583 which is 329 and 249 points over our league average! James and Blake let Lindsey and Sal score only 8 points in the first round of games. In round two they met their match. Not to sleep on Matt Fe and Mike, but finishing the regular season in 2nd and 5th place, I don't think they were the favorite to win and Blake and James sure didn't give them an easy time. Matt and Mike won the first game 11-4 and actually lost the 2nd game! Being that we use cumulative scoring to decide a winner 10 points put Matt and Mike in the 1st place spot!
For B and C Bracket we did blind draw for partners, it was exciting to see the teams form in front of our eyes. I do think the teams were evenly matched which was great and added to the fun atmosphere of the night. Chris and Holly really work and play very well together. Chris is working on perfecting that third shot drop and is getting really good at dinking. Surprisingly both Holly and Chris increased their ELOs 103 points this week as they won all 4 of their games!
The C Bracket had 6 teams of 2 players, also chosen by random draw. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the C Bracket Championship was shared by Kristen S & Jessica H and Mary B & Patty K.
You've heard of Girl Math, but I give you Pickleball Math: Pickleball Math is when you're supposed to hit the 3rd shot drop but you drive the ball instead.
