Ultimate Frisbee League Rules

Ultimate Frisbee League Rules

Will follow USA Ultimate rules which can be found here. This is how we adapt the official rules to our game.

Description: Ultimate is a non-contact, self-officiated disc sport. A goal is scored when a player catches a pass in the opponent’s end zone. A player may not run while holding the disc. The disc is advanced by passing it to other players. Any time a pass is incomplete, a turnover occurs, resulting in an immediate change of the team in possession of the disc. Players are empowered to self-officiate using a framework governed by the principles of Spirit of the Game.

  • Referee - There are no referees. This is a self-officiated game with an emphasis on the Spirit of the Game.
  • Periods of play - A standard game is 40 minutes long with 2 20-minute halves and a 5-minute halftime.
  • Players - Our league is co-ed with no set gender requirements. It is a courtesy to ‘match’ gender ratios when possible but it is not a requirement.
  • Time Size - We typically play 5v5, however teams can play up to 6v6 or down to 4v4 in order to allow maximum playing time for larger teams and to allow a game to be played when a team is short players for the day.
